Our Values

Be Resilient

There are many things in the world we cannot control. We spend our time on the things we can.

Be Curious

We believe insights come through questions not through explanations. We are never done learning from others.

Be Hopeful

We believe our outlook and intentions help shape a better future for us and our clients.

Take Action

We know data may be incomplete. Imperfect decisions and results are better than no decision and no results.

Working on a 38’ boat with my family, instilled many values in my three siblings and me. Our family was essentially a team and we had to work together, keep each other safe, and be as productive as possible. At an early age, we learned the best crew members worked to become proficient at their jobs which allowed them discretionary time to help others. We learned all roles are important and the captain must be willing to swab the deck, if that is the job that needs to be done. Fishing can be grueling, difficult work, and as a result we learned resiliency. Our family suffered a few very lean years, and this helped us learn our happiness was not entirely dependent on the summer haul.

My journey started on the deck of my father’s commercial fishing boat in the town of Cordova, Alaska. Our family, following the tradition of many other Alaska Native families, relied on commercial fishing to make a living.

The lessons learned on our family boat continue to guide me today. I find it remarkable how core values can translate from the deck of the fishing boat, to the University Campus, and into board room. I’ve worked with teams to create hundreds of millions of dollars of financial return. I’ve participated in the excitement of the birth of new companies and helped with the challenge of the final chapter of others. Through it all my purpose has never wavered.

I help drive better returns.

I do this by helping people, teams, and organizations reach their full potential.
